uam-install*
uam-uninstall*
uam_config.inp
uam-install
This command will install the new packages.
In case of upgrade, run uamconfig with the parameter values from your
existing configuration file: either /etc/nds.conf file, or in case you used
the ndscfg utility to configure the product, read the configuration values
from the /etc/ndscfg.inp file.
You must provide values for the following parameters: admin FDN, tree name,
partition root, workstation context, and preferred server.
For example: uamconfig add -a admin.novell -t tree1 -r o=novell -w o=novell -p server1
In case of a fresh install, refer to the uamconfig man page for more information.

If this product is installed on a machine running eDirectory 8.5.1, the
server's nds-uninstall script will no longer work. In this case, you will
have to manually
remove the server packages, when you want to uninstall the server.
Ensure that the LDAP server is set to port 389; otherwise, the unix2nds utility will not function.
If you have installed this product on a machine running eDirectory 8.5.1* and later upgrade to eDirectory 8.6.1, after upgrading, you must reinstall the product to ensure smooth functioning.
If you are upgrading to NAM 2.1 Update, ensure that the parameter values
you supply to the uamconfig utility match those in your existing configuration
file.
This would be either the /etc/nds.conf file, or in case you used the ndscfg
utility to configure the product, the /etc/ndscfg.inp file.
During upgradation, do not to use the -o option with the uamconfig utility. Doing so will overwrite the previous configuration values.
On a workstation, if you add, change, or delete a group, you must restart the uamcd caching daemon before running operations like id, getent group, and so on. Login operations however are not affected.
For optimal performance, either edit the /etc/nds.conf file, or use the
-c option with the uamconfig utility, to set the following parameter values:
n4u.uam.persistent-cache-entries-aging-interval=36000
n4u.uam.persistent-cache-refresh-period=28800
Note: If you change the values of these parameters, ensure that the value
of the first parameter, that is, n4u.uam.persistent-cache-entries-aging-interval
is
always greater than that of the second.
Restart the nds_uamcd after changing the configuration values.
You cannot change the preferred server parameter using uamconfig or ndscfg command. In order to change the preferred server setting, edit the /etc/nds.conf file, and restart the nds_uamcd daemon.
