dcpikdiff(1)

NAME

dcpikdiff - DIGITAL Continuous Profiling Infrastructure kernel diff.

SYNOPSIS

dcpikdiff [-o file] [-d] [-V] vmunix

OPTIONS

-o file
Output a copy of vmunix patched using kmem(7) to the specified file.

-d
Display differences between vmunix and kmem(7) to stdout.

-V
Print dcpikdiff version string.

DESCRIPTION

Dcpikdiff compares the text section of the specified kernel image vmunix with the memory-resident kernel image obtained from kmem(7).

Dcpikdiff can be used to create a new image based on both vmunix and kmem(7) that captures the true running kernel image after Digital Unix dynamically patches itself using self-modifying code.

This program is still experimental and has not been rigorously tested.
