Error 1230 when you try to install Windows Live OneCare on your computer: "Setup failed because of an issue with our registration system" (922618)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Windows Live OneCare on your computer, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Setup failed because of an issue with our registration system. Please contact the Help Center for assistance and give them the Error ID number below. Error ID: 1230

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you use software that blocks or filters access to Web sites to prevent other people from downloading and installing programs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Change the settings in the Web site blocker software to enable access to the Windows Live OneCare Web site, and then try to install Windows Live OneCare. If the problem is not resolved, go to step 2.
  2. Remove the Web site blocker software, install Windows Live OneCare, and then re-install the Web site blocker software. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
    2. In the Currently installed programs list, click the Web site blocker software that you use, and then click Remove.
    3. Follow the instructions to remove the Web site blocker software.
    4. Install Windows Live OneCare on the computer.
    5. Re-install the Web site blocker software.
