An SMS 2003 Advanced Client cannot locate a distribution point (922364)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You advertise a package in Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003. The SMS 2003 Advanced Client receives the advertisement, but the Advanced Client does not run
the program as expected. Specifically, the Advanced Client cannot find a distribution point from which to
download the package.
When this symptom occurs, a message that resembles the following may be logged in the CAS.log file: Successfully created location request {BFD99039-D1D7-4A28-9891-378DB9DC1227} for
content SAT00042.1 2/12/2004 5:38:23 PM ContentAccess 1520 (0x05F0)

The following error may also be logged in the CAS.log file: Unable to retrieve AD site membership Note The CAS.log file resides in the %Windir%\System32\CCM\Logs folder on the Advanced Client computer. CAUSEThis issue occurs when one of the following conditions is true: - The SMS Advanced Client does not reside within any of the
published site boundaries.
- The SMS Advanced Client is not assigned to the Active Directory site.
This issue may also occur when there is a policy version mismatch
between the Advanced Client and the distribution point. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use one or both of the following methods, as necessary. Method 1: Make sure that the advertised program is configured correctly- In the SMS Administrator Console, double-click Packages.
- Double-click the package that you want to review, and then click Programs.
- In the results pane, double-click the program.
- Click the Requirements tab. If the This program can run only on specified client platforms option is selected, click to select the check boxes for all the client computers to which you want the package distributed.
- Click the Environment tab. Make sure that the Program can run option is configured correctly for the intended client computers.
Method 2: Update the distribution point- Click Start, point to All Programs, click Systems Management Server, and then click SMS Administrator Console.
- In the SMS Administrator Console, expand Site Database (SiteCode-SiteName).
- Expand Packages, right-click the package that you want, and then click Update Distribution Points.
- On the Confirm Update to Distribution Points dialog box, click Yes.
