INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to find the digital fingerprint for Groove in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

MORE INFORMATION

When you set up a custom device policy in a Groove domain, the management server prompts you for a digital fingerprint. Digital fingerprint is the common term in Groove for the string of characters or hash of a certificate that is used for secure identification. However, Internet Explorer uses the term thumbprint instead of the term digital fingerprint.

If you want to copy the thumbprint from Internet Explorer to the Groove Management Server, you must first locate the thumbprint in Internet Explorer. Then, you can paste the thumbprint in the Digital Fingerprint field in Groove. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Content tab.
  2. Click Certificates, and then select a category tab.
  3. Double-click the certificate, and then copy the value that is in the Thumbprint field.
  4. In Groove Management Server, paste the thumbprint information that you noted in step 3 in the Digital Fingerprint field.
