Error message when you start Groove: "Cannot open database (null)/data/schemas.xss(80070003)" (922187)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Groove Virtual Office or Groove Workspace, you receive the following error message:
Cannot open database(null)/data/schemas.xss(80070003) HRESULT:0x80040154 Process:Grove.exe(ID:3776(oxoooooec0)) Thread ID:3780(0x00000ec4)

CAUSE

This problem occurs when Groove cannot find the InstallDataRoot registry key.

Note If you are running Groove Virtual Office 3.0e or an earlier version of Groove, this problem may also occur when Groove is running in compatibility mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of Groove Virtual Office.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Microsoft Windows XP

  1. Right-click the Groove Virtual Office or Groove Workspace shortcut, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Compatibility tab.
  3. Under Compatibility mode, click to clear the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box.
  4. Click OK.

Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 (SP2)

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 c:\windows\apppatch\slayerui.dll, and then click OK.
  2. Right-click the Groove Virtual Office or Groove Workspace shortcut, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Compatibility tab.
  4. Under Compatibility mode, click to clear the Run this program in compatibility mode check box.
  5. Click OK.
