INTRODUCTION

This article discusses the fact that you must supply your password to share your Groove account to another computer. The article also describes what to do if you do not remember your password.

MORE INFORMATION

You must enter your Groove password to share your account to another computer.

You might select the Remember my password on this computer option, and then forget the password. In this case, you cannot share your account to another computer unless you have password recovery.

To see whether you have password recovery, view the Groove logon screen. If you see the Forgot your password link, click it to obtain a new password.

If you do not see this link, the link might be missing because the version of Groove that you are running is too old, or because your organization does not enable password recovery. In this case, follow these steps to use Groove from multiple computers:
  1. Create a new Groove account. You may want to do this on a second computer.
  2. Invite that account to all the workspaces that you want to preserve from your original account.

Note Your old messages will be lost.
  3. Apply the appropriate license to the new account.

If you purchased the license yourself, log on to your Groove.net Web account. Revoke the license from your original account, and then reissue the license to your new account.

If you are part of a managed Groove domain, contact the domain administrator.

Note For more information about how to revoke and then reissue a license, visit the following Groove Networks Web site:
  4. Log on to Groove by using the new account. Enter your activation key.
  5. Share your new account to a second computer.

Note For more information about how to use your account on another computer, visit the following Groove Networks Web site:
Note You may want to create the new account on a second computer. Because you do not know the password for the original account, you cannot delete that account through Groove. You must supply your password as part of the deletion process. In this case, the only way to remove that account is by using the GrooveClean application.

For more information about how to use the GrooveClean application, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Important The GrooveClean application removes all accounts, workspaces and other Groove data from the computer. Therefore, do not run the GrooveClean application on the computer that has the account that you want to keep.
