This article describes how to use the GrooveClean.exe program to cancel an incomplete workspace transfer from your Groove account.

Consider the following scenario. Your Groove account starts to transfer a workspace. However, the Groove account that is receiving this transfer has been deleted or is unavailable for a long time. In this scenario, you may want to delete the stalled workspace transfer from your transmit queue. To do this, you can use the GrooveClean.exe program.

Note You may lose some transient information when you use the GrooveClean.exe program. For example, the following information may be lost when you use the GrooveClean.exe program:
  • Instant messages that have not been sent to the recipient or to the relay server for the recipient.
  • Instant messages that have been received by your computer, but not processed by Groove.
However, workspace data is not affected or lost when you use the GrooveClean.exe program.

To use the GrooveClean.exe program, follow these steps:
  1. Click the Groove icon in the notification area, and then click Exit or Shut Down Groove.
  2. When the hard disk drive stops spinning, click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
  3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    cd %systemdrive%\progra~1\groove~1\groove\bin

    Note You can use the path in this command if the following conditions are true:
    • Your first Groove version was 2.0 or a later version of Groove.
    • You used the installation defaults when you installed Groove.
    In other scenarios, GrooveClean.exe may be located in a different folder.
  4. At the next command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    grooveclean

If the GrooveClean.exe program runs successfully, a list of file deletions appears as the temporary data is cleared.
