Error message and then Windows XP Tablet PC edition stops responding when you start it: "Windows is starting up" (922006)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSWhen you start the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system, you receive the following message:Windows is starting up Then, Windows stops responding.CAUSEThis problem is caused by a deadlock between the Tpgwlnot.dll file and the Winlogon.exe process.
After a thread in the Winlogon.exe process acquires the loader lock, the thread queues a local procedure call message to the Winlogon.exe process. NoticeWhen you run Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 on a computer with an Intel dual-core processor, you may experience either of the following symptoms on the welcome screen:
- After you repeatedly log on and log off, the position of the stylus pen may not synchronize that of the pointer on the screen.
- When you rotate the welcome screen, the stylus pen may differently move from the pointer on the screen. For example, when you move the pen vertically, the pointer moves horizontally. Also, the pen moves oppositely to the pointer.
