The SNA subdomain name appears as a question mark in the SNA Manager console in Host Integration Server 2000 (921496)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You have installed the Microsoft SNA Server or Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Web Client on a computer. You then perform a "Nodeless" installation of Host Integration Server 2000. In the SNA Manager console, the SNA subdomain name appears as a question mark. The problem occurs even though the SNA Resource Location Wizard shows the correct SNA subdomain name and registry entries.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Host Integration Server 2000 installation application does not detect whether there is a previous installation of SNA Server or Host Integration Server 2000 Web Client.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, remove the SNA Server or Host Integration Server 2000 Web Client application, and then perform a "Nodeless" installation of Host Integration Server 2000 again.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
