- Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000
- Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000
- Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000
SYMPTOMSWhen you use a Microsoft LifeCam together with Windows Live Messenger to make a video call, you cannot pan or tilt the LifeCam.CAUSEThis issue occurs if the following conditions are true: - You have the video resolution set to 1.3 Mega Pixels (MP). The Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 cannot pan or tilt at this resolution.
- You have face tracking turned on. The software for face tracking controls the pan, the tilt, and the zoom.
- You have the camera zoomed out. The LifeCam uses digital panning and tilting. Therefore, it can only pan or tilt when you have zoomed in the picture.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps: - When you are on the video call with your contact, you can use the Windows LifeCam Dashboard to turn off the face tracking feature. Additionally, you can click Zoom in to zoom in. Unless you are at a resolution of 1.3 MP, you can now pan and tilt. If pan and tilt features are not available, go to step 2.
Note The pan, the tilt, and the zoom controls make small changes for each click. To make faster changes, click and then hold the controls to make large changes. - End the video call.
- Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft LifeCam, and then click Microsoft LifeCam.
- Click Open resolution settings.
- In the Video Resolution section, select a resolution that differs from 1.3 MP.
- Close the Resolution settings window.
