Message when you try to install or to reinstall Windows components on a computer that is running Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs: "The file 'file_name' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed" (920310)

SYMPTOMS

You try to install or to reinstall Windows components on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs. However, you receive a message in a Files Needed dialog box that resembles the following:The file 'file_name' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed.

RESOLUTION

If you have access to a legitimate Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD, insert this CD into your computer, and then click Continue.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click Cancel in the Files Needed dialog box.

Note When you click Cancel, no Windows components are installed.

STATUS

This is a known issue in Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs.
