Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.
SYMPTOMS
When you execute a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query that calls a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) function in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the query may fail, and you may receive a "PFE_ASSEMBLY_NOT_SAFETOPREPARE" error message. This problem occurs when the MDX query calls a VBA function from a linked server query.
The query executes correctly if the following conditions are true:
- You execute the same query directly.
- You are connected to SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS).
