INTRODUCTION

This article describes the account types that you can use in the GL Mapping window in the ADP Payroll service in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006. You can use these account types after you download a pay run to Small Business Accounting.

The account types in the GL Mapping window are typically expense accounts and liability accounts. There is one account type for a bank account in the GL Mapping window.

The following account types are typically used for expense accounts:
  • Earnings (not including bonus)
  • Bonus Earnings
The following account types are typically used for liability accounts:
  • Miscellaneous deductions
  • Retirement deductions
  • Voluntary disability insurance
  • Pre-tax insurances
  • Post-tax insurances
  • Federal Taxes
  • Social Security
  • Medicare
  • State taxes
  • Local taxes
The following account type is typically used for a bank account:
  • Net pay field
To assign account types to actual accounts in the GL Employee Mapping window, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to ADP Payroll service, click the Company tab, and then click GL Employee Mapping.
  2. Click the arrow, and then select the account to which you want to assign an account type.

    Note If you do not find the account that you want to use as a liability account or as an expense account, click Add Expense Account or Add Liability Account.
To assign account types to actual accounts in the GL Company Mapping window, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to the ADP Payroll service, click the Company tab, and then click GL Company Mapping.
  2. Click the arrow, and then select the account to which you want to assign an account type.

    Note If you do not find the account that you want to use as a liability account or as an expense account, click Add Expense Account or Add Liability Account.
