You cannot create a new profile to access e-mail on a Lotus Domino server after you install security update 892843 for Outlook 2003 (917326)

SYMPTOMS

After you install security update 892843 for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, you cannot create a new profile to access e-mail on an IBM Lotus Domino server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a problem that is introduced in security update 892843.

RESOLUTION

How to obtain the hotfix

This issue is fixed in the Outlook 2003 Hotfix Package that is dated April 24, 2006. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Quit any programs that are running.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click to select the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\General

  4. After you select the key that is specified in step 3, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click DWORD Value.
  5. Type UnknownRowsSortOrder, and then press ENTER.
  6. Right-click UnknownRowsSortOrder, and then click Modify.
  7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  8. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
Important This hotfix will not correct existing profiles that experience this problem when they log on to the server. The hotfix will resolve the problem only for profiles that you create after you install this hotfix.
