How to pause or minimize Groove traffic (916404)

Groove Virtual Office 3.x and Groove Workspace 2.x provide ways for you to free network resources if you have lots of Groove traffic going to and from your computer.

To determine which workspaces are most active, follow these steps, as appropriate for your version of Groove.

• Groove Virtual Office 3.x
  
  On the Options menu, click Communications Manager. Data queued to transmit or to be received is listed in the Status column. To pause the synchronization of a particular workspace, click to clear the check box next to the workspace. To resume receiving and sending data, click to select the check box next to the workspace.
• Groove Workspace 2.x
  
  Click Go To, and then click My Communications. To pause a workspace, click it, and then click Pause. To resume receiving and sending data, click the workspace, and then click Resume. You can also click the Groove icon in the notification area and then click Work Offline to suspend all Groove network activity. To resume receiving and sending data, click the Groove icon in the notification area and then click Work Online.

If a workspace is consistently generating too much data for the computer to handle, you can delete the workspace. However, you will no longer have access to the data in that workspace.

If the activity is mostly large files in the Files tool, consider setting download limits instead. You can configure folders in the Files tool so that you will not automatically receive files that are added to the workspace or so that you will automatically receive only those files that are smaller than a given size.
