INTRODUCTION

This article describes the fact that when authentication is required to synchronize a Groove Mobile Workspace for SharePoint workspace, automatic synchronization for other Mobile Workspace for SharePoint workspaces is affected.

MORE INFORMATION

The SharePoint authentication for a Mobile Workspace for SharePoint workspace is performed by Microsoft Windows, not Groove. When Groove is waiting for authentication to synchronize to a SharePoint site, Groove cannot automatically authenticate any other synchronization to a SharePoint site.

For example, you may have a Mobile Workspace for SharePoint workspace set to synchronize every fifteen minutes. Additionally, you configure the workspace to require that you manually enter your authentication information.

In this case, at the fifteen minute interval, the workspace starts the Windows authentication process, and a dialog box appears. Synchronization requires that you respond to that dialog box.

When you create a second workspace and set it to authenticate automatically, the dialog box does not appear. Groove calls the same process to complete the authentication for you. Groove cannot start the second authentication until you complete the first.

Note When the authentication process is stalled in this manner, only synchronization between Groove and Mobile Workspace for SharePoint is affected. Synchronization within Groove is not affected.
