Groove Workspace 2.1 is incompatible with the Windows XP System Restore feature (914731)
The information in this article applies to:
- Groove Workspace 2.5 Preview Edition
- Groove Workspace 2.5 Professional Edition
- Groove Workspace 2.5 Project Edition
- Groove Workspace 2.5 Standard Edition
SYMPTOMSGroove Workspace 2.1 is incompatible with the Microsoft Windows XP System
Restore feature.CAUSEThis problem occurs because the System Restore feature uses the following process: - System Restore saves all files that have particular extensions, and then restores the last known uncorrupted version of these files.
- System Restore saves files that have .tsp and .id extensions. Groove Workspace 2.1 uses these extensions for some files.
- When you run System Restore on a computer that has Groove Workspace 2.1 installed, System Restore overwrites .tsp and .id files with older versions of these files. Additionally, System Restore leaves other interdependent files at their current versions. This process may leave Groove in an unusable state.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, upgrade to Groove Workspace
2.5.STATUS Microsoft has confirmed that this is a
problem in Groove Workspace 2.1.
This problem was corrected in Groove Workspace 2.5.
