The Notes proxy address generator file (NTSPXGEN.DLL) is not updated when you install Exchange Server 2003 SP2 (913676)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), the Notes proxy address generator file (the Ntspxgen.dll file) is not updated as expected.

The version of the Ntspxgen.dll file that is included with Exchange Server 2003 SP2 is 6.5.7638.1. However, after you complete the installation of Exchange Server 2003 SP2, you find that the version of the Ntspxgen.dll file on the computer is an earlier version.

CAUSE

The Exchange Server 2003 SP2 update process does not automatically update this file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must manually copy the latest version of the Ntspxgen.dll file to the computer. To do this, first copy the latest version of the Ntspxgen.dll file from the location from which you extracted the Exchange Server 2003 SP2 files. Typically, the Exchange Server 2003 SP2 files are located in the following folder:

E3sp2eng\setup\i386\exchange\address\notes\i386

After you have copied the latest version of the Ntspxgen.dll file, paste this file to the following folder on the computer:

Exchsrvr\address\notes\i386

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
