How to restore manual password reset functionality for older clients after you upgrade the Groove Enterprise Management Server to version 3.0f or a later version (913601)

In response to customer demand, Enterprise Management Server 3.0f includes automatic password reset functionality as the preferred alternative to the old manual password reset functionality.

When you upgrade Enterprise Management Server to Enterprise Management Server 3.0f, default settings that implement the new automatic password reset functionality are included. In this situation, the old manual password reset functionality becomes unavailable. This upgrade process provides an automatic password reset link only when the following conditions are true:

• The Groove client installations have successfully connected to Enterprise Management Server since the installation of or upgrade to Groove Virtual Office 3.0f or a later version of Groove.
• The Remember Private Key Password option is selected on the domain.

Some older Groove clients run on managed devices for which the device-based manual password reset policy is set to Manual Password Reset (and data recovery). To support these clients, you must restore the old manual password reset functionality.

Note This device setting does not prevent devices that are running Groove 3.0f and later versions of Groove from using the automatic password reset functionality.

To restore the manual password reset functionality, follow these steps:

1. Click the domain name, expand Device Policy Templates, and then click the custom policy set that you want. Alternatively, click Default.
2. At the bottom of the new pane, click the Security Policies tab.
3. Click Edit Reset Settings (Groove 3.0e or earlier).
4. Click to select the Manual Password Reset (and data recovery) check box, and then click OK.
5. Click Save Changes.

To implement the automatic password reset functionality if it is unavailable on the Security Policies page, follow these steps:

1. Click the domain name.
2. Click Domain Properties on the top of the page.
3. In the Properties dialog box, click Change Private Key Password.
4. Click to select the Remember Private Key Password check box, and then click OK.
5. In the Domain Properties dialog box, click OK.
6. In the left pane, expand Identity Policy Templates, and then click the custom policy set that you want. Alternatively, click Default.
7. At the bottom of the new pane, click the Security Policies tab.
8. Click to select the Automatic Password Reset check box.
9. Click Save Changes.

Important Do not skip the first five steps of this procedure. If the Remember Private Key Password option is not selected, the automatic password reset functionality will not work.
