An inactive endpoint may accept a communications request after you install Intelligent Instant Message (IM) Filter in Live Communications Server 2005 (913032)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Service Pack 1, when used with:
- Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Standard Edition
SYMPTOMSAfter you install the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Intelligent Instant Message (IM) Filter program, you may experience the following symptoms: - A user is logged on to Live Communications Server 2005 from more than one endpoint.
- A communications request is sent to that user.
- The user's inactive endpoint accepts the communications request.
Therefore, the user might not receive the communications request. CAUSEThis problem occurs if the Live Communications Server 2005 Intelligent IM Filter program is installed after the Live Communications Server Routing.am program was installed. This problem does not occur if the Live Communications Server 2005 Intelligent IM Filter program is installed before the Routing.am program.
In this scenario, after the Live Communications Server 2005 Intelligent IM Filter program is installed, outgoing requests to Live Communications clients lose information about whether the request was sent to multiple endpoints. Therefore, an inactive endpoint may accept a call before an active endpoint accepts the call.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install the software update that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 911996 Description of the update for Live Communications Server 2005: February 10, 2006
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
