Xbox 360: You hear an echo when you use the Xbox 360 Headset (912493)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Xbox 360
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 Headset
  • Xbox Video Game System

SYMPTOMS

You hear an echo when you use the Xbox 360 Headset.

Note This echo effect originates with the person who is talking, not necessarily with the person who hears the echo. For example, if you only hear an echo when someone else is talks, the problem exists with the headset connection of the person who is talking, not with your headset connection.

CAUSE

Typically, you hear an echo because of a poor connection between the headset and the controller. This issue is frequently caused by not inserting the headset plug fully into the controller or by foreign debris interfering with the headset connection.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Disconnect and then reconnect the headset to the controller.
  2. Clean the plug on the headset cable with a clean cloth, and then reconnect the headset to the controller.
  3. Test the headset by connecting the headset to a different controller if you can.
