Error message in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005: "No TV signal" (911991)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMS
When you try to watch a TV channel in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, you may receive the following error message:
No TV signal
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the TV channel is encrypted.
When you first configure the TV signal using Automatic TV Signal Setup, Media Center adds all the available TV channels to the Program Guide, except for any encrypted channels. If an encrypted TV channel has been manually added to the Program Guide, you may receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section when you try to watch that channel.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, change the channel line-up to remove any encrypted channels from the Program Guide. To do this, follow these steps:
- Press the green Start button on the remote to open the Windows XP Media Center Start page.
- Select Settings, and then select TV.
- Select Guide, and then select Edit Channels.
- Clear the check marks from the encrypted channels.
- Select Save.
