This webcast is designed to discuss server sizing recommendations for SQL Server 2005.

This is a Level 300 session presented by Juergen Thomas, Ariel Netz andBrian Welcker.

Juergen Thomas is program manager and team lead of the SQL Server ISV PM team. The SQL ISV PM team works with the top horizontal software vendors like SAP. The team also works with vertical software vendors out of the areas health care, financial, and manufacturing. Juergen has worked with SAP for 10 years. Together with one of his team members, he supports SAP taking advantage of SQL Server components. Over the last 5 years Juergen also supported SAP porting to IA-64 and x64..

Ariel Netz is Group Program Manager for SQL Server Analysis Service, part of the SQL Server product group. His team is focused on providing end users with high end analytical services via its leading multidimensional engine (OLAP) and Data Mining technologies. In the SQL 2005 release Analysis Services changes the way modelers will build multi dimensional databases, with the increase level of scale and the new set of development tools users can build highly scalable multidimensional database integrated with data mining abilities that can be accessed by the best breed of tools, all the way from the classic Pivoting tools such as Office Excel all the way to the latest generation of reporting tools like the one deliver by SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. Ariel joined Microsoft from Tel Aviv, Israel nine years ago after his company, Panorama was acquired by Microsoft in 1996. Ariel resides in Redmond, Washington with his wife and 2 children.

Brian Welcker is group program manager for SQL Server Reporting Services, part of the SQL Server product group. His team is focused on delivering the premier managed and ad hoc enterprise reporting platform as part of SQL Server 2005 as well as delivering developer reporting components for Visual Studio 2005. Previously, Brian was the lead program manager for SQL Server Metadata Services as well as a technical evangelist in Microsoft's developer relations group. .
