Xbox 360: You experience performance issues or interference when you use the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (911111)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Xbox 360
- Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller
- Xbox Video Game System
SYMPTOMSYou experience one or more of the following symptoms when you use the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller: CAUSEThis behavior occurs because other wireless devices are operating at the same frequency, 2.4 gigahertz (GHz).
This behavior occurs when there are metallic objects in between the console and the wireless controller. Metallic objects include chrome faceplates or metal dividers.THINGS TO TRY- Remove all the metallic objects from the front of the console. Or, move the console away from any metallic surfaces, such as entertainment cabinets.
- Move the console or move the other wireless devices away from the console.
- If other wireless devices do not work correctly, move these wireless devices or move the console to determine whether interference is causing the issue.
- If you continually receive the "Please reconnect controller" error message during gameplay or if the four green lights on the controller flash continuously even after you try to "bind" the controller with the Xbox 360 console, there may be a problem with the controller. Contact Xbox Customer Support.
MORE INFORMATIONMetallic objects may shield the wireless signal. This prevents the signal from reaching either device. Some faceplates may contain metal and may interfere with the wireless signal between the controller and the console.
Note All licensed faceplates have been tested and will not interfere with licensed wireless devices.
The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller runs in the 2.4-GHz range of radio frequency. The controller has been optimized to run at this frequency and share the frequency with other devices. However, sometimes the wireless controller may not function correctly or may interfere with other wireless devices.
We are interested in hearing about any devices that may be involved in interference with the Xbox 360 console. Send us an e-mail message or contact a telephone support agent if you cannot resolve an interference issue.
