FIX: Error message when you create an instance of SQL Server 2000 Notification Services together with a large event field: "Invalid operator for data type" (910020)

SYMPTOMS

When you create an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Notification Services together with a large event field, you may receive the following error message when the NSCreateEventClassNameEventView stored procedure is created:
Invalid operator for data type
Note EventClassName represents the name of the event class.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the NSCreateEventClassNameEventView stored procedure uses a 1-KB buffer to construct a SQL statement that includes all the names of the event fields.

If the number of event fields, the combined length of each field name, or both causes the SQL statement to exceed the 1-KB buffer, the statement is truncated. Therefore, you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
