Xbox 360: You receive the "Can't transfer item" error message (908651)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to transfer an item from one storage device to another storage device, you receive the following error message:
Can't transfer item.

CAUSE

Not all items that are displayed in memory are transferable.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Turn the console off.
  2. Remove and then re-attach the storage devices that are involved in the transfer.
  3. Turn the console on.
