You may receive an error message when you try to run a drillthrough query on a server that is running Analysis Services SP4 (908538)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to run a drillthrough query on a server that is
running Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Service Pack 4 (SP4), you
may receive the following error message: The
Operation requested failed due to security problem - resource access
error CAUSEThis problem may occur when all the following conditions are
true:
- The user is not a member of the OLAP Administrators group
on the server computer.
- The user is not a member of the Administrators group on the
client computer.
- The user has a role on the server that is running Analysis
Services SP4, and the role's enforcement location is set to Server.
- The version of the Msolap80.dll file on the client computer
has a minor build number that is less than 2039. For example, the build number
will be less than 8.0.2039.
- The server is running Analysis Services SP4
or a later version of Analysis Services.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:
- Set the role's enforcement location role to Client.
- Download and install the Analysis Services
SP4 version of the Ptslite.exe file on the client computer. We recommend that
the version of the client components be the same version as the
server components.
STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
