A burned disc appears as a blank disc in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (905922)

SYMPTOMS

After you burn a CD or a DVD on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the disc may appear in Media Center as a blank disc. Because of this problem, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • After you burn a disc, the name of the disc does not change.
  • After you burn a disc, the My DVDs page and the Manage Discs page are not updated. There is no option to update the pages.
  • When you click a burned disc in Manage Discs, the Create CD/DVD dialog box appears.
  • When you click a burned disc in My DVDs, or when you try to play a burned DVD, you may receive the following error message:
    Play DVD: Media Center cannot detect a video DVD in the DVD-ROM drive. Insert a video DVD into the drive.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, eject and then reinsert the disc.
