When you send a Lotus Notes user an updated meeting request in Exchange 2000 or in Exchange Server 2003, the Lotus Notes user may receive an "An error occurred while saving: Database already contains a document with this ID (UNID)" error message (905870)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are using Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. You send a meeting request to a Lotus Notes user. The Lotus Notes user accepts the meeting request and sends you a response. Then, you modify the meeting item. You send an updated meeting request to the Lotus Notes user. The Lotus Notes user tries to accept the updated meeting request. In this scenario, the Lotus Notes user may receive the following error message:
An error occurred while saving: Database already contains a document with this ID (UNID)

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a limitation with Microsoft Exchange Lotus Notes Connector.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, delete the original meeting item. Then, send a new meeting request to the Lotus Notes user.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
