INTRODUCTION

The Microsoft Windows Mail Junk E-mail and Phishing Filter will be updated automatically through Auto Update one time per month. This process keeps the junk e-mail and phishing protection for the free Microsoft Windows Mail program effective.

This optional update provides the Windows Mail Junk E-mail and Phishing Filter with a current definition of which e-mail messages should be considered junk e-mail or phishing e-mail. This update was released in June 2006.

Installation details

How to determine whether the update is installed

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Click Start, and then click Search.
In the Search Results window, click All files and folders in the Search Companion pane.
In the All or part of the file name box, type OEspamfilter.dat, and then click Search.
In the list of files, right-click OEspamfilter.dat, and then click Properties.
On the Version tab, verify the version of the OEspamfilter.dat file that is installed on your computer.
