  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, you may experience the following symptoms when you use the mouse or the remote to select menu choices:
  • You use the mouse or the remote to rest the pointer on a DVD menu choice, such as a chapter selection. However, the menu choice is not highlighted. When you select the menu choice, nothing happens. If you move the pointer to an area that is outside the menu choice, the menu choice is highlighted. In this case, you can select the menu choice.

This problem occurs only with certain factory-released DVDs.
  • When you use Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to create a video DVD, the Up and Down arrows on the title menu of the DVD do not work correctly. For example, when you select the Up or Down arrow on the title menu, nothing happens. If you move the pointer to an area to the left of the Up or Down arrow, the menu choice is highlighted. In this case, you can select the Up or Down arrow.

WORKAROUND

To work around these problems when they occur, move the mouse pointer in concentric circles around the menu choice until it is highlighted. Then, click to enable the menu choice.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
