The design features in a design template are not applied to a slide in PowerPoint (905170)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a Microsoft PowerPoint design template. Then, you apply this design template to a slide. In this scenario, the design features in the design template are not applied to the slide.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, paste the design template into the slide master. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the design template that you created. Make sure that you are viewing the slide that contains the design features that you added.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  4. On the View menu, click Normal.
  5. On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  7. On the File menu, click Save.
If the design template contains a background picture, save the background picture as a picture. Then, add the picture to the slide master as a background picture. To add a background picture to the slide master, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
  2. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
  3. Click the picture that you want to add, and then click OK.
  4. Right-click the picture, point to Order, and then click Send to back.

By default, when you create a design template, PowerPoint saves the design template in the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

Note In this folder path, Username is the logon name of the user.

After you quit and restart PowerPoint, the new design template is available in the Slide Design task pane. The design templates are listed in alphabetical order under Available For Use.
