FIX: The memory usage of the Explorer.exe file may increase when you start and then exit Pocket Internet Explorer on a device that is running Windows CE 5.0 (901207)

SYMPTOMS

The memory usage of the Explorer.exe file may increase when you start and then exit Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer on a device that is running Microsoft Windows CE 5.0.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the following memory allocations are not released:
  • Memory that is associated with images is not always released.
  • Memory that is associated with each Pocket Internet Explorer window is not released when you close the window.
  • Memory allocations that are made when you click the Favorites menu are not released.

RESOLUTION

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previous updates for this product are installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this update.
