CPU utilization for the Svchost.exe process increases when you use Removable Storage Manager to frequently mount media or dismount media on a Windows 2000-based server (899904)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are using a Microsoft Windows 2000-based server. You use Removable Storage Manager (RSM) with a CD changer or a DVD changer to frequently mount media or dismount media. In this scenario, the following symptoms occur:
  • Every time that you mount media or dismount media, a gradual increase in the CPU utilization for the Svchost.exe process occurs.
  • Every time that you mount media or dismount media, the mounting process takes more time than you expect.
Note The Svchost.exe process runs the Microsoft Windows NT Media service (Ntmssvc.dll).
