The Store.exe process repeatedly crashes in Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (899585)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service (Store.exe) may unexpectedly and repeatedly crash on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

CAUSE

This problem may occur if Exchange 2003 SP1 receives a malformed MIME message.

RESOLUTION

Restart requirement

Generally, you do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, if a program that uses the Exmime.dll file cannot be restarted, you must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
