The ALTGR and ALT+CTRL key combinations do not work in Virtual PC 2004 with Service Pack 1 (899474)

SYMPTOMS

The ALTGR and ALT+CTRL key combinations do not work in Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 with Service Pack 1.

These key combinations are used to enter characters in many non-English languages.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Virtual PC service pack that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Virtual PC 2004 Service Pack 1 installed.

You must restart Virtual PC after you apply the hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. If you performed a clean installation of Virtual PC 2004 with Service Pack 1, apply the contents of the Vpc2004qfe899474_msdn.msp file.
