The Gpresult.exe tool does not locate the correct user account information after you run the RUNAS command on a Windows XP-based computer (899422)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Windows SE:156646

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • Two user accounts, User1 and User2, exist on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP.
  • You use the User1 account to log on to the computer.
  • You open a Command Prompt window by using the runas command and the User2 account.
  • You use the System Group Policy Result tool (Gpresult.exe) to obtain Last time Group Policy was applied information for User1. To do this, you type Gpresult /user1_domain\User1 at the command prompt.
In this scenario, you receive the Last time Group Policy was applied information for the User2 account instead of for the User1 account.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Gpresult.exe tool does not locate the correct user account when the tool evaluates the timestamp for the Last time Group Policy was applied information.
