FIX: Error message when you try to build a program that uses the fork() function on a Windows Services for UNIX 3.5-based computer: "ENOMEM" (899028)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to build a program that uses the fork() function on a Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
ENOMEM

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the semaphores that are set through a SEM_UNDO flag are not actually deleted. Instead, the semaphores are left in a deleted state.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
