Then, a Windows Installer dialog box may appear with the following message: "Preparing to install..."After the Windows Installer dialog box closes, the Visual Studio .NET 2002 IDE splash screen may disappear, and Visual Studio .NET 2002 IDE may not start.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the following registry key is
missing or has become corrupted: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Registration RESOLUTIONWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry
incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems
might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own
risk.To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods, depending on which application your computer is running. Method 1: Microsoft Visual Basic Standard .NET 2002- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following subkey:
