FIX: Memory use slowly increases when you open JPEG files on a device that uses an external JPEG codec in Windows CE 5.0 (896899)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. Your Microsoft Windows CE 5.0-based device uses an external JPEG codec. When you open JPEG files, memory use slowly increases. This problem does not occur on devices that use codes that are provided with Windows CE.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because every time that an image is viewed, a new system handle that is associated with the external codec is opened. However, this system handle is never closed.

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this software update.
