You receive a "The data definition of this data access page has been corrupted and can't be repaired" error message in Access 2002 (896863)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Access 2002, you receive the following error message when you try to open a data access page in Design view or when you try to create a new data access page:

The data definition of this data access page has been corrupted and can't be repaired. You must recreate the page. Save has been disabled.

Note In this error message, the word "recreate" is a misspelling for the word "re-create."

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or a later version.
