You cannot use the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition TV Auto Configuration feature if the Electronic Program Guide is unavailable (896478)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, the TV Auto Configuration feature is not available.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if you use Windows XP Media Center Edition in a region that does not have the Electronic Program Guide (EPG). To use the TV Auto Configuration feature, Windows XP Media Center Edition must download the EPG.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, if the EPG is not available in your area, manually set up your TV configuration before you view live TV.
