You may experience resource limitations in the Graphics Device Interface (GDI) when you use the Microsoft Web Browser control (896429)

SYMPTOMSWhen you use a computer that is running Microsoft Office XP or Microsoft Office 2003, you may experience resource limitations in the Graphics Device Interface (GDI). The limitations occur when you use the Microsoft Web Browser control.CAUSEThis problem occurs when all the following conditions are true: - The computer is not a Tablet PC computer.
- The computer is running Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
- The Handwriting feature is enabled in the version of Microsoft Office that is installed on the computer.
- Version 1.0.1038 of the Skchui.dll file is installed on the computer.
To determine the version of the Skchui.dll file that is installed on the computer, follow these steps:- Click Start, and then click Search.
- In the Search Companion pane, click All files and folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box, type Skchui.dll, click Local hard drives in the Look in box, and then click Search.
- Right-click the Skchui.dll file, and then click Properties.
- Click the Version tab, and then review the version of the file that is installed.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, disable the Handwriting feature in the version of Microsoft Office that is installed on the computer. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the Currently installed programs list, click the version of Microsoft Office that is installed, and then click Change.
- Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
- Click to select the Choose advanced customization of applications check box, and then click Next.
- Expand Office Shared Features.
- Expand Alternative User Input.
- Click the icon that is next to Handwriting, and then click Not Available.
- Click Update.
