FIX: There is insufficient space to play a remotely located MP3 file on a system that has a very small object store in the Windows CE Windows Media Player sample application (896417)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to play a remotely located MP3 file on a system that has a very small object store, the Microsoft Windows CE Windows Media Player sample application reports that there is insufficient space to play the MP3 file.

CAUSE

The Windows CE Windows Media Player sample application does not support streaming of MP3 content. Therefore, the MP3 file must be downloaded to the temporary directory. Windows Media Player always checks for available space before it starts a download. However, Windows Media Player only checks for space in the primary object store even if the temporary directory is located on external storage.

RESOLUTION

Prerequisites

This hotfix is supported only if all previous updates for this product are installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this hotfix, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other updates.
