SUMMARY

Property sheets associated with files distributed via Microsoft applications are used to capture details about each file. Property sheets are generally accessed by right-clicking a file in Windows Explorer and selecting Properties.

In the case of Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Update and Hotfix packages, property information related to the package and its internal components are captured in, and limited to, the Version tab of the property sheets for any given package.

On the Version tab, the value for an item name is displayed in the right pane by selecting the item name.

Values associated with Version tab names are listed below:

AppliesTo:

Application SKU and version the update package applies to. Example: Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook 1.2.

Build Date:

Date the update package was produced.

Company:

Company producing the update package

File Version:

Build number of the package.

Installation Type:

Examples: Full or Express.

More information: "Full" is used to describe a complete package that contains all the files needed to complete the update. "Express" is used to describe a package that needs to connect to a network to get files needed for the update.

Installer Engine:

Identifies principal installer component used by the package installation process. The principal installer used for Microsoft CRM Update Packages is update.exe, the Windows Installer.

Installer Version:

Binary version of the principal installer version (typically update.exe).

KB Article Number:

The number of the Microsoft Knowledge Base article describing the update provided by the package.

Language:

The language of the Microsoft CRM installation the package is intended for. Installer behavior blocks installation of Microsoft CRM Update Packages on Microsoft CRM installations that are different from the Update Package language.

Package Type (Release type):

Describes the distribution method for the Update Package. Example: Update Rollup.

More information: Microsoft is adopting standards to describe various types of software updates.
Package Version:

Used to differentiate between the original release and potential re-releases of an Update Package.

Proc. Architecture:

Describes the processor (CPU) architecture the Update Package will install on. Note: Currently, Microsoft CRM runs on the x86 processor architecture only.

Product Name:

Describes the product name the Update Package is intended for. Example: Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook Family.

Product Version:

Describes the product version the Update Package is intended for. Example: 1.2.3297.0 refers to Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2, where 1 is the major version, 2 is the minor version.

Self-Extractor Version:

Describes the Self-Extracting Cabinet utility that is used to build the Update Package. Microsoft CRM currently uses Sfxcab.exe as the packaging technology to create the self-extracting Update Package.

Support Link:

Lists the URL of the Microsoft Knowledge Base article that describes the software update provided by the package. Example: "Microsoft Business Solutions CRM version 1.2 published updates and hotfixes"
