SYMPTOMS

On a Windows Server 2003-based computer or on a Windows 2000-based computer, you use the PersonaGrata feature to restrict replication to the Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) database. However, the group records are not filtered out if they contain members that are owned by WINS servers in the PersonaGrata list.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of the limitation of the PersonaGrata feature. The PersonaGrata feature filters only the owner of the group. The PersonaGrata feature does not filter the members within the group.

After you apply this hotfix, when you use the PersonaGrata feature to restrict replication to the WINS database, whole groups are blocked when the following conditions are true:
  • They contain a member that is owned by a WINS server.
  • The WINS server is not in the list of WINS servers that are defined by the key.
