SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, the RichEdit control stores data that is not valid when you enter a surrogate pair that is not valid in the RichEdit control. When you stream data from the RichEdit control by using the EM_STREAMOUT message, the data appears corrupted.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
