SYMPTOMS
You may receive an "Access Denied" error message when all the following conditions are true:
- You manage a subset of attributes on user objects in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC).
- You try to update the values of those attributes for which you have write access.
This problem occurs when you try to update the values for users who have mailboxes enabled.

Even though you receive this error
message, the updates that you made to the values of the attributes on the user objects are not fully applied. You will see the newly updated
values in the attributes of the users the next time that you log on.
Note This error message is only received for the user whose mailbox is
enabled.
RESOLUTION
Service pack information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
