back to the topIssue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- You cannot delete the description of the Title column of a document library or the description of the Last Name column of a contacts list
You do one or both of the following in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services: - You add a description to the Title column of a document library. To do this, you connect to the document library, click Modify settings and columns, and then click Title on the Customize DocumentLibraryName Document Library page. Then, you type the description in the Description box in the Optional Settings for Column area of the Contacts: Change Column page.
- You add a description to the Last Name column of a contacts list. To do this, you connect to the contacts list, click Modify settings and columns, and then click Last Name on the Customize Contacts page. Then you type the description in the Description box in the Optional Settings for Column area of the DocumentLibraryName Document Library: Change Column page.
However, when you try to delete the description that you added, the description is not deleted. When you delete the text that is in the Description box, and then click OK, the Description box is empty. The text appears to be deleted. However, when you return to the Contacts: Change Column page or when you return to the DocumentLibraryName Document Library: Change Column page, the description still appears in the Description box.
